” Having exhibited across Europe her work invites viewers to explore our connection to ancient cultural legacies…” Bisa Bennett, ARTIO Magazine, 2024
„Viktoria uses mixed media in her woodworks in a suggestive and captivating way that I have not observed yet in contemporary painting…including reference to medieval icon paintings…she views art as a ritual process, creating a transititon between sacred and profane world…with her Iberian insights, she establishes a dialogue between traditions of Central Europe, the Iberian peninsula and beyond” Aron Cserdi, Vice-Major of Mohacs, opening speech at the Museum of Ethnography, 2025
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
„Art is Ritual”
Viktoria’s art is inspired by, and draws from the forms and traces of prehistory and of ancient cultural traditions primarily of Central Europe, the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. In her semi-abstract, surrealist works she captures and reflects on our contemporary and timeless relation to nature, to our cultural legacy of sacred and profane rites, and the rhythms, structures, and inherent energy of the natural world that surrounds us. In her artistic perspective, „Art is Ritual, the ritual of confirming or reshaping what we are: our values, legacy, and sense of self.”
